Job Requirements

We need machine operators with practical knowledge of machine controls, including human-machine interfaces, to help us complete customer orders.  BPI Labs uses bottling, tubing, and capping machines, among others, to manufacture custom products, and this important position assures machines are operating efficiently and correctly.

Industrial Machine Operator Duties/Responsibilities

  • Promotes a safe working environment. Adheres to health, safety, and environmental procedures, company policies, OSHA and FDA requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work area.
  • Follow SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and WI’s (Work Instructions).
  • Prepare, complete, and maintain all documentation for all paperwork.
  • Ability to operate all filling equipment efficiently, adhering to all quality assurance, productivity, OSHA, and safety standards.
  • Monitor and control all filling weight, filling speed, temperatures, pressures, and flow of product throughout the processing cycle in accordance with established quality assurance standards.
  • Adhere to established testing procedures and provide required samples to QA or Laboratory as required by established policies.
  • Ensure that the filling area stays clean and gets cleaned during downtimes.
  • Report unusual losses to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Work with mechanics and maintenance teams to keep machines in good working order to prevent unplanned downtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Dependable and attention to accuracy and detail
  • Practical knowledge of machine controls including human machine interfaces
  • Must be skilled with use of all trade tools necessary for equipment changeovers and minor repairs.
  • Understands Lean manufacturing, efficiencies, and CI (continuous improvement) procedures/standards.
  • Self-Management: Display initiative, effort excellent organizational and planning skills, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Good attendance record.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE
  • Strong math and analytical skills.

Outside the box thinking:  The nature of contract manufacturing requires innovation and agility to meet the ongoing challenges presented by clients. Unique and novel solutions to problems are required to meet these needs. Position requires clear thinking and focus under pressure to provide solutions that maintains efficiency and quality while working within current constraints.

Embraces change:  Just as with finding solutions to unique challenges, change will always be a part of the contract manufacturing experience. As much as we attempt to encourage behavior by our clients that comply with our expectations, there will always be unique issues and new challenges. The ability to adapt to changing conditions and new challenges is key to being successful in this role in a contract manufacturing environment.
